SCW Systems is the international market leader in Supercritical Water Gasification. In Alkmaar, we operate the world’s first industrial-scale installation with a capacity of 10 tons per hour. Supercritical Water Gasification (SCWG) is an innovative technology that efficiently converts various (problematic) waste streams into green gas, green hydrogen, and clean water. In 2023, we successfully demonstrated this technology at industrial scale, a world first in Alkmaar.
We are looking for a Lead Engineer for SuperCritical CleanUp to drive the technical development and implementation of our technology. This is your chance to join an innovative and intrinsically motivated growing team. In this leadership role, you will contribute from day one to the expansion of our Alkmaar plant, the technology roadmap, and the international roll-out of our technology.
What is SuperCritical CleanUp?
SuperCritical CleanUp (SCC) is the division in which we develop and deploy the groundbreaking Supercritical Water Gasification technology. With SCC, we can sustainably process various (problematic) waste streams and convert them into valuable products such as green gas, hydrogen, and clean water. The world’s first industrial demonstration plant in Alkmaar was developed, built, and commissioned by the SCC team. This included all stages of the continuous process, from pre-treatment and gasification to high-pressure gas treatment (syngas to on-spec green gas) and water treatment. As SCC Lead Engineer, you will directly contribute to the development and scaling of these technologies. You will work closely with SCC Research for in-house lab testing and analysis, the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team, and Business Development. As SCC Lead Engineer, you will be part of the SCC Management Team (SCC-MT).
Your Focus
Technology Leadership – Define and drive the technical vision for SCWG development and implementation, based on input from engineering, O&M, research, and business development.
Engineering Leadership – Lead the design, development, and optimization of our industrial projects, including the expansion of our current plant in Alkmaar. Set the frameworks within which the engineering team develops solutions. Work closely with the Plant Engineer and Operations.
Team & Project Leadership – Take ownership of key project results and ensure that teams and team members understand their roles and priorities.
Strategic Planning & Business Development – Collaborate with SCC Business Development to develop technical roadmaps for technology scaling, commercialization, and integration into various decarbonization markets.
Resource Planning & Budgeting – Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
Hands-on Support – Take on critical tasks that the SCC engineering teams cannot execute due to resource constraints.
