Your role within SCW as a R&D Chemist/Chemical Engineer

You will primarily focus on the reduction process of metal alloys using hydrogen as a reducing agent. If interested, you can also be part of our new  research topic, catalytic hydrogenation of CO2 to higher alcohols. Your main activities will be understanding the metal alloy composition in detail and finding out the right reducing agents/conditions for it without CO2 emissions. After developing the process, you will be also involved in the scale-up of the process.

With your team, you work on groundbreaking developments, with which you will make a substantial contribution to the global energy transition. The team consists of young enthusiastic scientists with a pragmatic approach. Your experimental work is also directly linked to our factory. It is therefore possible that your work will be picked up within our factory in the short term, how cool is that!

About SCW

CLEANUP GAS: with this we convert organic waste into circular gas by gasifying supercritical water.

What we are looking for in a R&D Chemist/Chemical Engineer

• BSc Biochemistry
• Hands on experience with performing high temperature gas phase chemical reactions
• Experience with Swagelok fittings, building/designing flow reactors etc. is a plus
• Experience working with high temperature furnaces, flow reactors etc.
• Knowledge/ experience in heterogeneous catalysis
• Knowledge/ experience in hydrometallurgical process
• Knowledge/ hands on experience in various analytical instruments such as GC, TPR, XRD, XRF, XPS, BET, TGA, SEM-EDS, ICP-MS etc. 
• You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary international team and you can easily communicate with various disciplines (mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, R&D) within the organization
• You master the Dutch and/or English language
